E Originally established in 1972, CCTA became an agency of the Cabinet Office (Office of Public Service) in 1996.
R The principal aim of the CCTA is to improve the delivery of public services by the best use of Information Technology (IT).
G United Kingdom.
Its primary focus is the UK public sector, but CCTA has brought / is bringing public & private sector organisations together to develop world class methodologies for IT management ie PRINCE (for project management), SSADM (for systems analysis & design), ITIL (for IT service management) and TAP (for IT procurement).
In the telecomms arena CCTA runs one of Europe's largest private telephone networks with almost 45,000 extensions; it manages the outsourced contracts for the government data & telecomms networks, and runs Europe's largest public sector Internet website (as quoted above) which is a gateway to over 400 organisations.
